PEDIATRICS

Pediatrics is the medical specialty that studies children and their diseases. The term comes from the Greek paidos (child) and iatrea (healing), but it´s content is much higher than the cure of childrens diseases, since pediatrics studies both healthy and the sick children.

Chronologically, pediatrics covers from birth through adolescence. Within it, we can distinguish several periods: newborn (0-6 days), neonatal (7-29 days), infant (infant under 1-12 months of life, increased infant 1-2 years), preschool (2-5 years ), school (5-10 years), pre-teen (10-12 years) and adolescents (12-18 years).

Childcare is one of the medicine specialties. It means “child care”. Pedriatic dentistry is the dentistry branch that studies dentition affections, and likening it to the mouth stomatology in children. Within diseases consulted to the pediatrician, constipation and others caused by infectious agents (bacteria) that require the use of antibiotics for treatment are highlighted. During this treatment, the contribution of probiotics is recommended to restore and maintain the intestinal flora.
